Information on Requesting Access to Banner Products

Employees of George Mason University whose duties require access to any of the products or processes that access data from the Banner database must:

  • Be employed by George Mason University or its affiliates.
  • Have been assigned a G number.
  • Have been assigned an Mason e-mail ID.
  • Have completed scheduled training as needed.
  • Have requested and received approval through their supervisor, Departmental Banner Liason, and Banner Security Officer.
The following products require approval for access:
  • Internet Native Banner (INB)
  • Data marts
  • Oracle Discoverer
  • e~print
  • Oracle Reports
  • Foundation Accounts System
  • Server Accounts
The following products are available through Patriot Web Self Service and do not require approval for access:
  • Student Services
  • Employee Services
  • Faculty & Advisor Services
To obtain procedures, forms, and contact information associated with access to Banner products, go the the Patriot Web and log in to Patriot Web Self Service. Then select the Employee Services menu and choose the Request Access to Banner Products link.

NOTE: The university is committed to the confidentiality of records, and thus has the goal of providing the minimum ongoing access to data required for significant work activities. Occasional duties which require data should be handled through a temporary access request.
