ELI provides quality instruction in English as a second language, aimed at
developing language and academic skills, as well as cultural awareness necessary
for successful academic, personal, and professional life. ELI offers two programs:
the Intensive English Program which serves international students who have come
to the United States to study English in preparation for academic study at an
American college or university; and the Support Services Program, which provides
programs for non-native English speaking students newly admitted to George Mason
University and other international members of the Mason community. In addition
to the Intensive English Program and the Support Services Program, ELI provides
contract services to private corporations, embassies, and government agencies.

OIPS provides immigration assistance to international students, visiting scholars,
faculty and staff, and offers programs and activities that focus on intercultural
themes for the entire university community.
