550 Theories of Learning and Cognition (3:3:0) Explores theoretical perspectives on learning and cognition, and relation of these theories to the construction of learning environments, student motivation, classroom management, assessment, and technology to support teaching and learning.

551 Principles of Learner Motivation (3:3:0) Focuses on theories and concepts of human motivation, and examines strategies, techniques, and interventions that promote and sustain learner motivation.

650 High-Stakes Assessment and Accountability Systems (3:3:0) Focus on school effectiveness, assessment tools, and accountability models being implemented on state and national levels. Explores issues and methods relevant to educational policy, standardized testing, and classroom assessment.

651 Test Design and Interpretation (3:3:0) Focuses on test design and interpretation including issues regarding test development, administration, interpretation, and communication of the results. Addresses issues in educational policy, philosophy, and ethics pertaining to assessment and testing.

652 Process of Learning and Development (3:3:0) Prerequisite: EDEP 550. Explores different theoretical perspectives on learning and development. Focuses on historical and contemporary theories of learning and cognitive development, and examines current research and its application in educational settings.

653 Culture and Intelligence (3:3:0) Explores different theoretical perspectives on intelligence as they relate to individual and cultural differences. Examines issues related to heritability and measures of intelligence, and intelligence in the cultural context.

654 Learning, Motivation, and Self-Regulation (3:3:0) Prerequisite: EDEP 550, 551. Focuses on theories and research on self-regulation of academic learning. Multidimensional conceptual framework presented for studying and applying self-regulation in educational contexts.
