Chief of Staff:
Dr. J. Thomas Hennessey, Jr.

The Chief of Staff serves as a member of the President's Executive Council, President's Council, and as liaison to the University Board of Visitors. The Chief of Staff is responsible for the efficient operation of the President's office, including management of budget, scheduling, staffing, and operating procedures. In that capacity, the Chief of Staff provides advice and counsel to the President and reports directly to the President on all matters related to the university.

The Chief of Staff also serves as the senior legislative liaison with the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Virginia and is responsible for the annual development of the university legislative priorities and program. As appropriate, the Chief of Staff represents the President and the university to the external community.
