The Director of the Office of Equity and Diversity Services (OEDS) oversees the development of all the university's plans
to enhance the employment and educational opportunities of minorities and women.
This includes staff, faculty, and students. The Director of OEDS is authorized
by the President to execute settlement agreements for all discrimination complaints
filed with the OEDS. In addition, the Director of OEDS
operates as a competent authority in providing expert advice to the President
in all matters involving discrimination allegations. In addition, the Director
of OEDS:
- Develops and recommends to the President the adoption of new and/or revised university or management practices in policies, as necessary to execute the above-cited obligations imposed on the university by federal statutes.
- Operates with the OEDS staff, as an instructor, resource person, or critic
in the training of supervisors, management officials, or employees-at-large
in matters pertaining to federal laws and regulations
- Supervises a small, knowledgeable, and energetic staff of approximately seven individuals
- Serves as the university's expert consultant in the adjudication of matters
investigated by the OEDS. Serves as the final signatory authority for all university
hires.
