In 1976 the George Mason University Alumni Association began recognizing and honoring outstanding alumni, students, and faculty members for their achievements and contributions to the university. On Wednesday, April 16, 2008 the Alumni Association once again continued this tradition hosting the annual Celebration of Distinction to honor the award winners' accomplishments at Mason, in the community, and across the globe.
