Springtime Proves to be Another Busy Season for the Alumni Association May 24, 2005
Excitement was definitely in the air this spring as students wrapped up final exams in the early part of May. This excitement undoubtedly carried over into the Alumni Association as the school year came to a close. Mason alumni had the opportunity to watch the 80th running of the Virginia Gold Cup Races out at Great Meadow on Saturday, May 7. On an annual basis, the Alumni Association hosts a hospitality tent that is open to all Mason alumni and their guests. A great day of horse races, delicious food, and great company was provided. The 38th annual commencement ceremony of George Mason University was Saturday, May 21. The Alumni Association lined the Patriot Center's exterior as graduates precessed out. Alumni volunteers distributed over 1,000 gift bags to graduating students as a congratulatory gesture and a welcome into the Alumni Association. A lot of preparatory work goes into preparing the bags and volunteers were working hard during the week to complete that endeavor. This year was especially significant as the Alumni Association welcomed the 100,000th graduate into the association!
