
FOUNDERS HALL Construction Update
October 21, 2009
- This week and next, building progress focuses on:
- Begin backfilling along the south wall adjacent to the Fairfax Drive sidewalk
- Frame and pour shear wall to the elevator machine room; frame elevator machine room roof
- Begin installation of elevators #3 through #8
- Installation of various metal structures (stairs, elevator divider beams, etc) continues
- Continue exterior stud framing along the east/west wings and western elevation
- Continue CMU (concrete masonry unit) along west elevation
- Continuing framing of interior partitions
- Continue metal panel installation along north alley
- Fireproof structural steel at auditorium and multipurpose room locations
- MEP (mechanical, electrical, & plumbing) and sprinkler installation work continues
- Mobilizing storefront week of 10/26
- Two Week Look Ahead:
- Begin erecting structural steel on 7th floor and mezzanine levels
- Place concrete tiers in auditorium
- Demobilize concrete framing
- Install exterior stud framing at west elevation
- 60 Day Look Ahead:
- Begin drywall installation mid-December
- Complete auditorium roof
- Complete rooftop equipment and structural steel
- Initiate tie-in work to Hazel Hall late December
- 90 Day Look Ahead:
- Complete gas service
- Complete structural steel for bridge to Foundation Building
- Complete all stairs
- Cut into Hazel Hall
- As of this date –project is 59% completed
SPECIAL NOTES:
- Due to the construction, the two Hazel Hall passenger elevators have been turned off to the B-2 level. (Please call 703-338-9049 if you need access.)
