Admissions (Fairfax Campus)

The Office of Admissions is dedicated to enriching the lives of those who seek higher educational opportunities at George Mason University.

Arlington Independent Media
The local cable television station broadcasts Arlington Campus courses on channel 69 from 1 to 4 p.m. See their programming schedule for the evening broadcast schedule.

Arlington YMCA
Phone: 703-525-5420, Location: 3422 N. 13th Street
A discounted fee of $2 per visit is available for students. The YMCA also has a faculty/staff discount. Users must have a valid Mason ID.

Center for the Arts (Fairfax Campus)

The Center for the Arts provides free student tickets to events in the Concert Hall, TheaterSpace, and Harris Theater with a valid Mason ID.

Arlington Events
Events Management can provide all services related to your special event, including site selection and scheduling, publicity, support services coordination, catering, and registration processing. Contact Events Management at 703 993-8140.

  • General Complaints and Repairs
    General complaints should be called in to the work control desk at 703-993-2525. Work orders can also be faxed to 703-993-2539 or entered on the web site for non-emergency issues (i.e. room temperature, broken items for repair, repainting/patching, inoperative doors, new equipment to install).
  • Emergency Complaints and Repairs
    Emergency complaints (i.e. water leaks, power outage, elevator outage) should be called in to the work control desk at 703-993-2525. Then call 703-993-8150 for a duty engineer. If no one answers, leave a detailed message and a phone number where you can be reached.
  • Room Move Coordination
    All room move coordination is routed through the work control desk at 703-993-2525. Fax specific instructions for room moves (i.e. tables, chairs, equipment layouts) to 703-993-8149. All requests require a work order to be completed through the work control desk.
  • Hours of Operation
    Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for main crew
    Monday to Friday, 3:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. for evening operator (one person only)
    Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. for weekend operator (one person only)

Financial Aid (Fairfax Campus)

The Office of Student Financial Aid provides financial counseling, referral and information resources, and financial assistance in the form of grants, loans, and work-study jobs. For more information, call the Direct Online Aid Resource System (DOLARS) at 703-993-4GMU.

GMU-TV (Fairfax Campus)

GMU-TV broadcasts 15 to 20 classes for credit each semester; six of these telecourses have won national and international awards.

Information Technology Unit

  • Computer labs are located in the Original Building,
    Room 306 (Phone:703- 993-8226) and in Hazel Hall, Rooms 342 and 350 (Phone: 703-993-8984/8985). The labs are open to faculty, staff, and students.

Student Bar Association

The SBA is the School of Law's student government organization and the umbrella organization for other student-run organizations and events at the law school.

    George Mason's twice weekly student newspaper is delivered to Hazel Hall, the Original Building, and Truland Building
  • Career Services (Arlington and Fairfax Campus)

    Services include career consultation, workshops and seminars, a career library, and internships. Career Services offices are also located with the School of Law and School of Public Policy.
  • Counseling Center (Arlington and Fairfax Campus)

    Professional counselors and psychologists provide individual and group counseling, workshops, and outreach programs to students, faculty, and staff.

  • Sexual Assault Services

    Services available for both men and women include information on sexual assault, sexual harassment, and stalking; crisis intervention; psychological, medical, and judicial support; and volunteer/intern opportunities.

  • Student Health Services

    Student Health Services offers a confidential health service that includes diagnosis and treatment of illness and injury, communicable disease screening, health and wellness counseling, laboratory services, immunizations, travel clinic, and referrals.
  • Writing Center

    The Writing Center has trained graduate tutors to assist students. Visit http://writingcenter.gmu.edu to learn more and to check available appointment times.

University Police provides 24-hour police coverage and an escort service for the Arlington Campus.
Key control is located in the Original Building, Room 118.

University Relations
University Relations provides communications and outreach support for all three campuses. Following is a list of available services:

    Speaking engagements and other activities in the Arlington community are coordinated through this office.
  • Creative Services

    Creative Services writes, edits, and designs publications to meet the needs of university departments. It also handles advertising, multimedia presentations and displays, website design, and photography, and produces online the daily Mason Gazette.
  • Mason Gazette

The Mason Gazette, an electronic information resource for the faculty and staff of George Mason University, is posted online every weekday by the Office of University Relations.
  • Mason Speakers

    The speakers bureau provides a list of topics that faculty and staff members can present to community organizations free of charge.
  • Media Relations

    The Media Relations office works with local, regional, and national media to publicize academic programs, research, and campus events. The office also produces the Media Guide, a list of faculty and staff members who can offer expert analysis to the media.

    The bookstore provides all textbooks and school supplies for the Arlington Campus, as well as greeting cards and gifts.

  • Dining Services

    Sodexho Services provides a variety of fresh sandwiches, salads, and grilled items. Vending machines are located in the rear of the cafeteria.

  • Mail Services

    Mail Services provides pickup, processing, and distribution of incoming, outgoing and intercampus mail, UPS and FedEx shipments, and bulk mailing support through the U.S. Postal Service.

  • Mason Money/Meal Plan

    Several plans make eating on campus convenient for students, faculty, and staff. If you have a food service contract with Sodexho, the wide magnetic strip on your ID card will access your meal plan.

  • Parking Services

    On-site Parking- Parking spaces are available on-site for students, faculty, and staff with valid Arlington Campus parking decals. No overnight parking is permitted without authorization from the campus operations coordinator. Parking lot enforcement hours are 7 a.m. to midnight.

  • Handicap Parking
    Handicap parking is available in the main parking lot at the Arlington Campus. To use handicap parking at George Mason University, a valid DMV handicap permit (tag or placard), along with any valid Mason parking permit, must be displayed. DMV permits alone are not valid for parking on campus in parking areas or lots.

  • Print Services

    The copy center provides copy service, course material sales, transparencies, manuscripts, copying of legal briefs, and library reserve materials. Special requests are sent to the Johnson Center copy center. Coin/card operated copiers and teller machines are located in both libraries.

  • Chevy Chase Bank

    ATMs are located in the Original Building, first floor entrance, and in Hazel Hall, B-1 level, near the University Police office. Chevy Chase offers a student/faculty/staff checking account free of monthly service charges.
