20th Washington Health Policy Institute
Policy Institute: June 4-8, 2012
Key Bridge Marriott, Arlington, VA
Learn how health policy is really made and how you can play a role. Faculty include speakers from Federal and State Health Agencies, Congressional Staffs, Media Experts and Nationally Prominent Leaders in Health Policy.
The Washington Health Policy Institute explores all facets of the health policymaking process and provides participants with the knowledge needed to make a difference in the U.S. health system. By learning about policymaking through various complex policy issues, participants will be able to apply knowledge in their own professional activities.
Attendees may enroll in the Institute either for graduate credit or continuing education units (CEUs). Students with baccalaureate degrees may select one of two (2) options for graduate credit:
Washington Health Policy Institute
Provides an understanding of how public policy affects the nation’s health care delivery system and resources. Through lectures and interactive discussions with top policymakers, enrollees explore the forces influencing current policy and the policymaking process.
The institute will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday; and 9 a.m. to noon on Friday.
Options for Graduate Credit

Participants receive customized leadership assessment and tailored coaching to take advantage of their unique personal potential. Students will register for either HAP 546 or HAP 746. Students in both courses will meet together with the same instructor, but will have different course objectives and requirements. Interested students with questions on which course to register for should contact the course instructor, P. J. Maddox (pmaddox@gmu.edu).
