PURCHASE SINGLE TICKETS FOR THIS EVENT - SEPT. 1, 2007

This dynamic, timely and hilarious new production of Joseph Heller’s own stage adaptation of his classic novel explores the absurdities of war and its impact on American society. Heller’s wonderfully surreal text provides an excellent dramatic vehicle for this versatile theater troupe. The Aquila Theatre Company has been called “eclectically entertaining…a classically trained, modernly hip troupe,” by The New York Times. Performing with precision, sensitivity and unity, this esteemed touring company combines both British and American theatrical techniques, and is committed to bringing great works of theater to the greatest possible number of people.

Rik Reppe
Staggering Toward America

Sunday, Mar. 2 at 7 pm
PURCHASE SINGLE TICKETS FOR THIS EVENT - SEPT. 1, 2007

The tragic events of September 11, 2001 inspired Rik Reppe to give up his career as an L.A. business consultant, and to make a cross-country trek in his pick up truck to visit the crash sites in Washington, Pennsylvania and New York. Out of this unusual journey comes an extraordinary one-man production that is both humorous and heartbreaking as Reppe recounts and reenacts his experiences with the people he encountered along the way. This dynamic storyteller seamlessly weaves a new picture of patriotism, and challenges each of us to answer the question, “What does it mean to be an American?” In what the Chicago Tribune calls “fascinating snapshots of the American psyche,” Staggering Toward America is a hymn to the indomitable spirit of America, and one man’s search to find out what it means to be an American post-9/11. The Los Angeles Times called it, “hilarious and heartwarming.”

The Acting Company
Moby Dick Rehearsed
by Orson Welles

Saturday, Apr. 5 at 8 pm
PURCHASE SINGLE TICKETS FOR THIS EVENT - SEPT. 1, 2007

This unique stage adaptation of Herman Melville’s classic novel is an illustration of Orson Welles’s striking creativity. First performed in 1955, Moby Dick Rehearsed is a play within a play: a fascinating hybrid that draws parallels between King Lear and Captain Ahab. Relying on the magic of the theater without the assistance of sets or costumes, the talented cast and crew transport the audience to the nautical world of the Pequod, as the tale of Captain Ahab and his obsessive pursuit of the great white whale unfolds. Founded in 1972 by John Houseman and current Producing Director Margot Harley, the company has been honored with numerous awards, including an Obie, and a Tony for Excellence in Theater.

The Tempest
by William Shakespeare

Sunday, Apr. 6 at 7 pm
PURCHASE SINGLE TICKETS FOR THIS EVENT - SEPT. 1, 2007

The Tempest is a play of enduring enchantment, and one of the richest treasures to be found in anywhere in the dramatic literature. Inhabited by a host of interesting characters, The Tempest tells of a great, yet embittered magician who has been marooned on an isle in the New World. He plans vengeance on his enemies, but instead learns the glory of reconciliation and forgiveness. Written near the end of Shakespeare’s career, The Tempest is seen by some as a poignant farewell to the theater, and when Prospero declares that “our revels now are ended,” it may be as much the playwrights voice as the magician’s. This stunning work is performed with extraordinary aplomb by the award-winning ensemble, The Acting Company.
