Welcome to the CTE site!
Congratulations to all of Mason’s Teaching Award winners! The 2008 GMU Teaching Excellence Awardees are Joani Bedore (COMM), Pamela Cangelosi (NURS), Al Fuertes (NCC), Margo Mastropieri (CEHD), Mara Schoeny (ICAR), and John Schreifels (CHEM). Dr. Schreifels award recognized his contributions to excellence in General Education.

A special congratulations to Donald Gallehr (ENGL) for winning both a 2008 Teaching Excellence Award and the 2008 David J. King Award for significant, longstanding contributions to educational excellence at Mason.

Congratulations to Naoru Koizumi for winning the 2008 Teaching Excellence Award in the School of Public Policy, David Kravitz for winning the MBA Faculty of the Year, and Paige Wolf for winning the 2007 School of Management Teaching Excellence Award.


The Center for Teaching Excellence:

  • Provides consultations that range from enhancing your syllabus and responding effectively to student needs to suggestions for creating a teaching portfolio.

  • Coordinates Faculty Mentoring Program

  • Offers workshops and faculty showcases that promote student learning

Critical Thinking Across the Curriculum (CTAC)

  • Supports faculty development of assignments, projects, and programs that develop students' critical thinking skills

  • Provides workshops and activities to foster faculty innovation

  • To apply for a CTAC award for the fall semester please visit the Critical Thinking across the Curriculum website. The deadline for fall applications is August 15th.
