Overview

George Mason University is well-positioned to embrace the study of film and video within a degree program by virtue of an unusual synergy of faculty interests, including the appointment of a distinguished filmmaker Carma Hinton (read story), as a Robinson Professor, space availability, and equipment. The Film & Video Studies (FAVS) program offers instruction in documentary production, business, and theory. The FAVS BA is housed in the College of Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA) and draws on faculty and course offerings from seven departments (Art and Visual Technology, Communication, English, History and Art History, Modern and Foreign Languages, New Century College, and Theater) located in the College of Visual and Performing Arts and the College of Humanities and Social Studies.
