Course Objectives
To introduce students to film professionals in the Washington, D.C. area
To teach students how to review biographical and professional material to be used as a basis for interview questions.
To help first time FAVS 100 students develop their specialization. To help second time FAVS 100 students learn assistant producer responsibilities or complete client production videos.
To help third time FAVS students learn how to present their video work professionally within a public setting.To learn critical viewing skills in the reviewing of others work and to accept positive criticism of their own work.
Course Description:
FAVS 100 is a one credit hour class for FAVS majors only. FAVS majors must take this class three times. Students taking FAVS 100 for the first time will work on determining their content specialization. Students taking FAVS 100 the second time become part of the pre-production process for “Studio A” or part of a production team to complete a client video. Students taking FAVS 100 for the third time simultaneously with FAVS 499 will present their FAVS 499 senior project to the class.
All first time FAVS 100 members review Studio A guests’ backgrounds and develop questions to be asked during the videotaped interview with the film professional. All first FAVS 100 students will critique the guest interview programs and post them on WebCT.
ALL FAVS 100 students (first, second, and third time) MUST ATTEND
