Mr. Alpher has spent several years applying conflict resolution theory and methodology to international development work, most recently as a Program Operations Officer for  the NGO International Relief and Development in Anbar Province, Iraq, where he managed a district-wide conflict reduction program; and as Coordinator of Conflict Mitigation Programs at Winrock International, where his principle responsibilities included conflict assessment and technical design for development projects in fragile states; design of assessments and research methodologies, integration of conflict-sensitive methods into natural resource management and livelihoods projects, evaluation and long-term strategic planning for conflict-related projects.  He has also mediated “track-two” dialogues between conflicting parties in Israel/Palestine and in the US. David Alpher is a PhD candidate at and MS graduate of the Institute for Conflict Analysis and Resolution, where his focus is on asymmetrical ethnic and religious conflicts.

Dr. Alma Abdul-Hadi Jadallah, is a national and international conflict resolution practitioner, and scholar with more than a decade of experience in conflict prevention and mitigation practice and education, training and development, peace building and capacity building, monitoring and evaluation, organizational development and leadership development. She led and directed civil society initiatives related to the Arab world and Islamic community. She serves her community through active board memberships with organizations working on grass root community issues, and peace building. As President and Managing Director of an award-winning woman owned firm- Kommon Denominator, Inc. - she implemented highly successful, large and small-scale system-wide multi-stakeholder interventions in corporate, community and international settings. Engagements include top-tier companies, non-governmental organizations and governmental entities, and State and Private Universities. As an educator, she is part-time faculty at the Institute for Conflict Analysis and Resolution, American University, Georgetown University, and Eastern Mennonite University.

Mary Hope Schwoebel is a program officer in the Education and Training Center/International at the United States Institute of Peace (USIP). She holds a Ph.D. in conflict analysis and resolution from George Mason University and an M.Ed. in adult and non-formal education from the University of California, Davis. Her dissertation was entitled Nation-building in the Lands of the Somalis and compared three state-building and peacebuilding interventions in terms of how they negotiated Somali, Islamic, and Western models of governance and conflict resolution. For the past ten years Mary Hope has worked as a consultant for international organizations. Most recently, she worked for the UN Development Program where she contributed to the development of a global policy on community security and social cohesion and for USAID and its partners. She also conducted peace and conflict assessments and evaluations around the world, including South Asia, South America, East and West Africa, Turkey, Guyana, and Indonesia. She has over 25 years of experience as a trainer for multilateral and non-governmental organizations in conflict management, disaster management, humanitarian assistance, democracy and governance, peacebuilding and development.
