Welcome to ICAR!
Welcome to the Institute for Conflict Analysis and Resolution (ICAR) where faculty and students are committed to the development of theory, research, and practice that interrupts the cycle of violence. ICAR offers the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) and the Master of Science (M.S.) degrees in Conflict Analysis and Resolution. Both degree programs provide students an opportunity to advance our collective knowledge about the construction and evolution of significant and persistent conflicts, both locally and globally. ICAR supports an adult learning model where students bring cultural differences, life and career experience and varied interests to the Institute, which, in concert with rigorous academic curriculum, anchors their expertise as reflective practitioners. In working groups, courses, workshops and internships, students are encouraged to develop research agenda, drawing on interests and experience, that expand the boundaries of our understanding of conflict processes. We invite you to explore ICAR's website that provides information on faculty, courses, and admission processes. Additionally, we invite you to visit our "September 11th" page, where you will find faculty and student articles, and other resources intended to provide analytic frameworks, research methods, and practical recommendations for reducing the violence and increasing learning.
