Dr. Reuel Hanks received his Ph.D. from the University of Kansas, after completing his dissertation on nationalism and Islam in Uzbekistan during the Gorbachev years. He is currently Associate Professor of Geography at Oklahoma State University, and serves as the editor of the Journal of Central Asian Studies. He was been a Fulbright Scholar in Tashkent in 1995, and in 1997 led a Fulbright-Hayes Faculty Development Seminar to Uzbekistan. He has published more than a dozen articles on Islam and ethnic geography in Uzbekistan and Central Asia and is the author of Uzbekistan, an annotated bibliography in the World Bibliographical Series, published by ABC-CLIO Ltd.
