New ICAR students:
Please review the list indicating assignments of faculty members who act as student advisors. Please be aware that faculty advisors may not be available until on/after August 15, 2007.
You should meet with your advisor to develop a “plan of study” indicating courses you intend to take while at ICAR. You will learn how to fill your “plan of study” sheet during orientation day. Afterwards you can meet with your advisor regarding this issue. The “Plan of Study” is due at the ICAR’s Graduate Student Coordinator Office by October 1, 2007, so you have plenty of time to do it.
Your advisor should:
-
Discuss your long-term career goals.
-
Meet with you at least one per semester to check your progress and help smooth out problems that may occur.
-
Direct you to additional resources to help you address particular issues that relate to your academic work while at ICAR.
-
Advice you about career development after ICAR.
You can send an e-mail to your advisor by clicking on their names on the advisor assignments page or view their CV on the ICAR faculty page at http://www.gmu.edu/departments/icar/ICAR_faculty.html, or contact them by phone via our front desk receptionist: 703-993-1300.
If questions arise that your advisor cannot address, you should contact the appropriate program coordinator: Julie Shedd, Masters Program Coordinator, or Terrence Lyons, Doctoral Program Coordinator.
