ICAR WELCOMES THE INCOMING
CLASS OF FALL 2008!

Dear New Student,

It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to the Institute for Conflict Analysis and Resolution (ICAR) at George Mason University. It is always exciting for us to know that a new group of diverse students from all over the world and with all sorts of backgrounds is coming to join us.

The welcome and orientation process is designed to make your transition to ICAR a positive and productive one. We have put together an orientation process lead by Julie Shedd (Director of Student Services) and Mery Rodriguez (Ph.D. Student), in which we will introduce you to ICAR. At the beginning of our third year at the Arlington Campus, we are eager to share the process of growth and transition as you come to be a fundamental part of ICAR’s evolution.

I would also like to call your attention to Graduate Students in Conflict Studies (GSCS), which is the representative body for all ICAR graduate students to the administration and faculty. The organization addresses issues of concern to the students, and its officers, elected by the student body, have an active role on various departmental committees including the Advisory Board, Faculty, and Curriculum. GSCS also organizes social events that bring graduate students together, and welcomes any new participants. Interested students should contact either Min Oo or Gabriel Rojo, 2006-2007 co-Presidents.

As you can see, we have a lot to share with you; please do not hesitate to contact Mery, Min or Gabriel to answer any questions you have regarding your coming to ICAR.

Again welcome to our community,

Sara Cobb, ICAR Director
