"On the Poverty of Bush's Pre-emptive War Strategy"

Dennis Sandole
Prof. of Conflict Resolution and International Relations

Kudos to Professor Benjamin R. Barber of the University of Maryland, for proclaiming cogently and coherently the poverty of the Bush Administration's pursuit of the discredited "Israeli model" of pre-emptive war in Iraq.

The surprise is that Prof. Barber's article appears in The Washington Post (Sept 14, 2003, p. B7), a newspaper whose
editorial voice has been nearly as shrill as Fox News in supporting the U.S. invasion and occupation of Iraq.

As the Post editors continue to re-invent their position on Iraq, just as the Bush Administration appears to be doing at present, perhaps we will be able to avoid the further folly of arrogantly and unilaterally pursuing a potentially catastrophic policy, especially in our dealings with North Korea and Iran.
