DESCRIPTION

The Universidad de Zaragoza was founded in 1542 as a research institution, adding teaching 30 years later. It now offers breadth and depth in many disciplines, including arts, sciences, humanities and all kinds of technologies. The staff at the Universidad de Zaragoza are highly specialized and have broad research and teaching experience that prepare students for all fields, from industry and medicine to archeology and physics. Situated in the heart of Aragon, flanked by the Pyrenees and the Iberian mountain range. The University itself is spread over three campuses.

Zaragoza, Spain's 5th largest city, is home to 700,000 inhabitants at the crossroads of Northern Spain. It's a a modern city still connected to its ancient past. Zaragoza is a welcoming city that combines ancient traditions with feverishly, modern technology and with over 2000 years of history, its an ideal place for students to immerse themselves in the Spanish culture. There are a dazzling array of museums and theaters, restaurants and shops, pubs and discos, parks and, not far away, the Pyrenees with plenty of outdoor activities.

CREDITS

Students can undertake a full study program at the Universidad de Zaragoza, spending one or two semesters there.

Students can also take some elective subjects or training activities offered annually by the university’s departments, without these studies being part of an official qualification. In addition, the Universidad de Zaragoza offers special courses on Spanish Language, Literature and Culture.

Housing

Universidad de Zaragoza has residence halls for students on campus. Residence hall space is limited and reservations should be made as soon as possible.

 

ELIGIBILITY

This program is open to Mason students ONLY. Students must be at least second semester sophomores by the time they study abroad and have a minimum 2.5 GPA. Students should not study abroad the last semester of their senior year if they plan to graduate on time.

Financial aid may apply. For more information, please contact the Financial Aid Office as soon as possible.

If a student applies and is accepted into the direct exchange program and then drops out of the program, they are still responsible for paying the $300 administrative fee to CGE.
