CGE HOME

Dates

June 29 - July 31st (when students must vacate the dorms)

DESCRIPTION

During this four week Intensive French language program, you will study at the Institut Catholique in Paris.

Classes are held at the Institut Catholique de Paris (ICP) 18 hours per week and are supplemented by cultural activities and free time. Prior to commencing classes, students will be tested at Mason to ensure that they are placed at the appropriate level of study. The program also includes a walking tour of Paris and a weekend trip to a nearby site. Other weekend excursions to places such as Versailles , Mont -Saint Michel and St. Malo are offered by the ICP for an additional fee. There will also be opportunities for guided visits to the Louvre museum and a cruise on the Seine .

The ICP offers a cinema club, showing classic French movies with discussion before and after. Participants will be lodged in double occupancy rooms at the Foyer International des Etudiantes (FIE). Facing the Luxembourg gardens, within easy walking distance of ICP and the banks of the Seine , the Foyer International offers the ideal location for students in Paris . The Latin Quarter , long the center of student life in Paris , is also a popular tourist area with its sidewalk cafes and numerous shops. The Foyer is located on RER line B ( Luxembourg station) that provides a direct link to Charles de Gaulle airport; numerous bus lines connect the Foyer to other areas of Paris . Daily breakfast will be provided at FIE. Lunch & dinner are not included.

Participants will be given a French Student ID card, allowing them to eat at the very inexpensive system of university restaurants, as well as granting them cheaper fares at most museums and other cultural sites. Students will also receive a “Carte Orange”, which allows for unlimited metro/RER transportation for the entire month.
