Debra Bergoffen
Debra Bergoffen is professor of Philosophy and affiliated with the Womens Studies and Cultural Studies programs at George Mason University. She brings the insights of the psychoanalytic, phenomenological and existential traditions to issues in feminist ethics and politics. She is the author of Simone de Beauvoir: Gendered Phenomenologies Erotic Generosities, and the editor of several anthologies. Her work addressing genocidal rape and human rights has been presented at such forums as the Georgetown University Law School, the University of Exeter, American University and the International Association for Philosophy and Literature. Her articles concerning these issues include: February 22, 2001: Toward a Politics of the Vulnerable Body,Feminist Philosophy and the Problem of Evil, ed. Robin May Schott (Bloomington: Indiana Press, 2007); From Genocide to Justice: Women's Bodies as a Legal Writing Pad, Feminist Studies, spring 2006, vol. 32, no.1; and Just War and Global Gender Justice, Global Studies Review. Dr. Bergoffen received her PhD from Georgetown University.
