Timothy Leslie

Faculty member in geography department with previous project-managing experience. Most recent project was a trandisciplinary project to assess the competitiveness of the Phoenix metropolitan area across economic, educational, medical, and technological domains. The project team consisted of two dozen faculty, graduate students, and staff members from multiple academic units as well as involving the local media, state government, and non-profit organizations. Final additions to the project before my departure included the areas of crime and health as measures of competitiveness.

Recent grant-proposal (co-PI) activity under review includes work to analyze patterns of lower-back pain treatment involving physician-owned hospitals. The changes of care based on how far patients are from hospitals and the level of care different between provider types will hopefully be funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

Proficient in basic statistical software such as SPSS as well as more advanced software such as Limdep and Nlogit. Involved in numerous spatial statistical packages such as GeoDA and CrimeStat. Trained in GIS software ranging from ArcView 3.x to ArcGIS 8/9 and MapInfo, including how to program in each suite. Knowledgable about graphic design programs such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Capable of working on OS X, Windows, and OpenBSD.
