Health Policy Research

The Center for Health Policy Research and Ethics (CHPRE) conducts health services research and creditable policy analyses intended to broaden the nation’s options for improving health care.  CHPRE supports the application and integration of research to the management of health systems and organizations, health policy analysis and development; and electronic commerce and technology development in the health services.  The Center works in partnership with a wide range of business, state, federal and international government agencies, professional associations and legislative entities.

The Center is comprised of an interdisciplinary faculty and diverse professional staff with expertise in health services research, management and technology applications. Our research and policy experience can help you to respond to the changing health care market in the face of increasing demands for accountability and efficiency. We assist public and private health related organizations to meet their regulatory oversight functions and mandated reporting functions.

The Center serves as a resource for business, government, the research community and others interested in health care costs, financing, operations, outcomes and quality. Our services include:

  • Defining complex issues and applying rigorous research methods to meet our customer's objectives.

  • Providing an infrastructure to support the design, development and implementation of research and integrated data systems to assess health care costs, utilization and quality (including large-scare database management and data integration).

  • Analyzing the impact of state and federal legislation, program policy and regulations on the financing and organization of health services (including managed health care) and various public entitlement programs.

  • Providing policy relevant recommendations and options, which are responsive to the often competing demands of consumers, funding agencies, health care providers and governing bodies.

  • Evaluating alternative approaches for improving health service outcomes and quality and safety of health care.

  • Participating in the professional research community to develop and apply improved methods for conducting health services research under a variety of economic condition (especially for Medicaid/Medicare managed care).

  • Analyzing the impact of changing delivery systems and methods on vulnerable populations.
