Manar Fawakhry

Manar FawakhryManar Fawakhry is an expert in dialogue facilitation who has specialized for the past ten years in Arab/Jewish relations in Israel. Manar has facilitated approximately 50 sessions both in the United States and Israel. Manar is currently a Congressional Fellow in the office of Representative James Moran, United States Congress. Manar is also pursuing a Master of Science at the Institute for Conflict Analysis and Resolution (ICAR), George Mason University, where she holds a full scholarship that combines facilitation research at the Center for World Religions, Diplomacy and Conflict Resolution (CRDC) in conjunction with the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. She is developing a Genocide and Conflict Prevention Curriculum based upon experiential learning at the U. S. Holocaust Museum exhibit. Manar graduated from Brandeis University with a four year Sylvia and Joseph Slifka Israeli Coexistence Scholarship. She pursued a major in politics and two minors in Peace, Conflict and Coexistence Studies as well as Near Eastern and Judaic Studies. Manar was born and raised in Mazra’a, a predominantly Muslim village of the Galilee of Northern Israel. In the summer of 2006 Manar endured thirty-four days of bombs on her village during the Lebanon/Israeli war, without a shelter.
