Services

Dr. Fisher is a Virginia licensed clinical psychologist who has provided psychological services for Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) on a part-time basis since 2005.  He provides services at CAPS at the GMU Fairfax campus, as well as the Arlington Campus (home of several of the university’s graduate programs) where his primary role is to provide short-term individual therapy with students.  He specializes in cognitive-behavioral therapy for anxiety (especially generalized anxiety, panic attacks, obsessive compulsive disorder, social anxiety, and phobias), depression, insomnia, and coping with medical issues.

In addition to providing services at GMU, Dr. Fisher has a private practice in Falls Church, Virginia.  Prior to joining the staff at GMU, he completed his postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Virginia Medical Center and Western State Hospital.  Dr. Fisher completed his doctoral degree in clinical psychology at Argosy University (formerly the American School of Professional Psychology) in 2003, his Master’s in psychology at American University, and his Bachelor’s degree at the State University of New York at Stony Brook.  During the course of his graduate education, he completed his clinical internship at Monmouth Medical Center in New Jersey, and also worked locally at Georgetown University Medical Center, National Institutes of Health, Whitman-Walker Clinic, The Women’s Center, and Arlington County Detention Facility.
