Learning Disabilities & Attention Deficit Disorder

The Self-Development Center provides a media library of personal growth and academic skills programs available to students, faculty, and staff at George Mason University. Media programs may be used in the Self-Develoipment Center during the hours the Center is open. Faculty and staff at GMU may check out programs overnight or over a weekend. Students may check out programs to use for classroom or group presentations. These programs are not for sale or rent to persons outside of the University. If the program is marked with an asterisk (*), ask the receptionist for the handout or written materials that accompany it.
ADD and the College Student (own pace)
This volume provides an in-depth questionnaire to help determine attention deficit disorder, personal commentaries, suggestions for securing appropriate learning accommodations, and answers to common questions about ADD. (book) 		ADHA in Adults (38 min.)
This program features interviews with adults who suffer from ADHD and their families. Clinicians who treat ADHD bring the issues and problems to life. Descriptions of the symptoms, behaviors, associated disorders, ways in which clinicians diagnose ADHD in adults, and much more are also discussed. (video)

This new volume, written by learning disability specialists, emphasizes that learning disabilities are not specific to academic learning. This survival guide for college students with attention deficit disorder or learning disabilities provides useful information on how to succeed in college, including tips on how to study, how to manage time, how to get organized, ways to minimize distractions, reduce frustrations and learn self-advocacy skills.
