Psychological
Services

Counseling and Psychological Services provides personal development workshops and training sessions to student leaders, including those in paraprofessional helping roles, so that they can more effectively serve their various constituent groups. Workshops often focus on topics such as stress management and self-care, while training sessions are designed to familiarize participants with relevant mental health topics (e.g., depression, eating disorders) and promote referrals to counseling and other campus support services. Groups that have received training include Housing & Resident Life, Resident Advisors; Campus Networks Peer Educators; New Student Center Peer Advisors; Orientation Leaders; Sexual Assault Peer Companions; and the Student Leadership Institute sponsored by the Center for Service Learning.

Peer Empowerment Program

Peer Educators are student volunteers responsible for offering support, information and referrals through the Peer Empowerment Program. Training for Peer Educators emphasizes the importance of maintaining the privacy/confidentiality of students who seek assistance through PEP.
