After obtaining her bachelor’s degree from Harvard University and her medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, Dr. Perez completed her Psychiatry Residency at Georgetown University Hospital, then spent a year as a Fellow at Inova Fairfax Hospital subspecializing in psychiatric issues related to medical illness. Since 1994, she has treated outpatients in her Northern Virginia private practice, has worked with hospitalized inpatients at Inova Fairfax Hospital, and has taught and supervised medical students and psychiatry residents. Prior to her arrival at George Mason in January 2008, she served as Medical Director of the Inova Fairfax Hospital Partial Hospital Program.

As a Board-Certified Psychiatrist, Dr. Perez diagnoses mental illness and prescribes treatment with medication, but she is also committed to a comprehensive understanding of her patients from biological, psychological, social and spiritual perspectives. In her spare time she enjoys choral singing and attending athletic events.
