Computing problems:

1. Download the Eviews workfile "hw1.bin" for U.S. inflation and unemployment off my webpage. You can do this by simply going to my page, then saving the file to your hard drive or a floppy disk.

2. Following the instructions on the Introduction to Eviews handout, start Eviews and open the workfile.

3. Get used to using Eviews by opening the variables inf and un.

4. Using the instructions in the handout (part III), figure out the correlation between inf and un (and copy or print out your answer!). Does your answer surprise you?

5. Use the Equation feature of Eviews (part IV) to regress one variable on a constant and another variable.

6. Using the instructions in the handout (part V) print off the summary statistics for inf and un.

7. Using your program results, test the hypothesis of your choice.

8. Use Eviews to do the following problems from Johnson/DiNardo: 1.6, 1.15
