        A Typical Daily Schedule

 

Daily Schedule Start your morning with Core class from on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays from 8:30am until 10:20am and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00am to 11:30am, enjoy a lunch break, and then join your Oral Communication Skills on Tuesday and Thursdays from 2:50pm to 4:20pm & Fridays from 1:30pm to 3:20pm. On Mondays and Wednesday attend Elective classes from 2:30pm to 4:30pm.

CORE CLASS: meets 10 hours per week
Increases your reading, writing, listening and speaking skills while you follow a content-based curriculum that helps you learn English and prepares you for academic study.

ORAL COMMUNICATION SKILLS CLASS: meets 6 hours per week
Provides extra development in these critically important skill areas through focused exercises and assignments.

ELECTIVE CLASSES: meet 4 hours per week
Choose two options per semester and get an in-depth understanding of these topics (note: elective topics vary from semester to semester):

  • TOEFL Grammar and How to Increase Your TOEFL Score
  • American English Pronunciation
  • Enriching your Vocabulary
  • Using Computers and the Internet
  • Understanding Idioms and Popular Language
  • English for International Business
  • Appreciating American Culture
  • English for Science and Technology

FREE WORKSHOPS and TOEFL Preparation
Provide you with extra opportunities to improve your knowledge of language and culture.

As an ELI student you’re invited to attend a weekly series of workshops on a variety of topics including: TOEFL Preparation, American holidays, Understanding The Washington Post, Campus Life, Introduction to the Internet, The Vowel Sounds of English, Problem Grammar and Idioms.
