Facilities Management's primary mission is to provide an acceptable physical
environment in which the University's standards of excellence can be accomplished. To
achieve this mission, the department operates, cleans, maintains, repairs, replaces,
renews, and secures all buildings, grounds, utilities, and other infrastructure assigned
to George Mason University.
Check our Outages and Alerts page for the latest
information on all utility outages and alerts.

She has worked for the Facilities Department for 10 years. Tammy's family is also part of the
George Mason University family. Her husband John works in ITU and her brother, Larry Barnes,
works in the mail room. Tammy and John have a daughter, Christian, who is 17 and will
graduate from Edison High School this year.
She has many hobbies. One hobby being having friends. She loves lots of friends, especially
her lunch buddy's. Tammy enjoys going to concerts, and the Beach. Every year she goes to
Ocean City.
Everyone agrees that Tammy has a heart of GOLD. If there is any thing that she can do for a
person she will. She also has a nick name at work - the Candy Lady - she makes sure everyone
has their chocolates to keep them happy. Tammy is always laughing, and you will always see a
smile on her face.
Archie is the Supervisor for the Grounds Shop. He has worked at George Mason University for
almost 20 years.
He is very knowledgeable about grounds and landscaping, and one look around
campus can attest to that fact. He has continuously received positive comments on how great
the campus looks.
When not at work, Archie spends most his time running. During a six month period, he will
have covered over 500 miles in training. His effort is all part of the National Aids Marathon
Training Program, which benefits the Aids Foundation of Chicago. This year he will run in the
Florence 2007 Marathon on November 25th. In past years, he supported the Walt Whitman-Walker
Clinic when he ran in three Marine Corps Marathons.
Roy works at the Arlington Campus, primarily as an electrician, but helps out anywhere as
needed.
He has been at George Mason University for a little over five years. Before Mason,
Roy used to work in landscaping.
Roy’s main mode of transportation is the bicycle. He rides his bike everywhere. He likes
going to clubs to listen to music and often plays his guitar at the clubs.
Roy is an excellent electrician and is waiting to take his journeyman's exam.
