WELCOME TO GEOGRAPHY NEWS AND EVENTS PROJECTS

Thank you for visiting us in the Department of Geography at George Mason University. We are an academic research department with research and teaching strengths in Cartography and Geographic Information Science, Remote Sensing, Environmental Modeling, Transportation Geography, Urban Geography, and Economic Geography. We offer Bachelors, Masters, and PhD degrees as well as a Graduate Certificate in Geographic Information Sciences.

We strive to provide exceptional teaching to students at all levels and to prepare them for geographic careers in government, academia, and the private sector. We produce and disseminate research that seeks to augment the body of knowledge of the proud discipline of Geography - a discipline so universal that it has persisted for several millennia. We welcome you to join us in these productive pursuits.

The World Basketball Project

Geography is hitting the basketball court with the World Basketball!!! See all the details on The World Ball web site. The Mason Patriots Basketball team used World Ball night at the Patriot Center to secure a victory over Dayton on November 17th!

GIS Day a Resounding Success

GIS Day 2007 was a resounding success with representatives from employers, government agencies, and George Mason faculty and administration. Thanks to Jennifer Maloney and Nigel Waters for their tireless efforts that made GIS Day at Mason the BEST GIS Day Celebration in the Washington Metro Area!!! View some Pictures from GIS Day 2007!!!
