Instructions for Preparing ONE-PAGE Field Trip Reports
The GEOG 309 field trips are educational opportunities worth hours of classroom attendance. For grading purposes, I basically need a record which shows that you were present in both body and mind. Your first field trip provides 200 points pass/fail. You are welcome to attend every field trip, and extra credit is available for additional field trips. In compliance with the Paperwork Reduction Act, time for your attendance and report preparation should average about four (4) hours.
To obtain your credit, please submit a legible ONE-PAGE report providing the following information:
1. YOUR NAME (I still get no-name papers).
2. Date of the field trip.
3. Location of the field trip.
4. Name of the person(s) visited, a MUST to spell correctly!
5. A short description of what you saw and/or experienced.
6. A short discussion of something you learned, discovered, were revolted
by, or whatever (you must have learned or reacted to something).
7. Provide a short evaluation of the field trip. Could this trip be
better? If so, how? Should the class do this next year?
These reports MUST be legible. GMU requires professional level work (typewritten is nice but not mandatory). Your grammar, spelling and syntax must also be acceptable, but allowances are made for "style". Reports not achieving these standards will be returned for rework. - Dr. T.
