ANSWERS
- Allergies are often tied to a particular season or place. The most common season for allergies is spring or summer. Allergies can last for any length of time, depending on the allergy. Allergies usually develop in adulthood. Hay fever (also known as seasonal allergic rhinitis) falls within this category. Hay fever can last several weeks to months and in some areas year-round, especially if a particular tree blooms year-round that bothers you. Many people suffer from indoor allergens, such as dust and dust mites, and these sensitivities can persist year-round.
- The common cold comes and goes, usually only remaining for 5 to 7 days at most. The more severe a cold, the longer it will last. The symptoms can be similar to allergies, but are more severe in nature.
- Sinusitis is a condition that closely mimics allergy symptoms. Sinusitis occurs when a person's sinus mucus membranes become inflamed and don't drain well. The result is because of an infection, constant allergies, or even structural problems of the nose. Sinusitis will hang around for weeks or maybe even months.
