B.S.Ed Health and Physical Education is a degree program in teacher education and it is accredited and approved by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education and the Virginia State Department of Education.
Starting Fall '00, any student majoring in BSEd Health and Physical Education whose catalog year is '00/01, he/she must be admitted to the major. Here is how that is done.
To complete BSEd Health and Physical Education and be awarded licensure through GMU's Office of Teacher Education (Graduate School of Education, the student must meet these requirements by time of student teaching (PHED 415) application:
If a student has an existing degree and wants to apply for teacher licensure through the BSEd Health and Physical Education degree program, he/she must complete the general education requirement of BIOL 124/125 Anatomy and Physiiology (8) and all major (PHED, HEAL, PRLS and EDUC) degree requirements in the BSEd Health and Physical Education degree program.a minimum degree-specific GPA of 2.500 for the last 60 credit hours; completed or being in the process of completing all degree requiements; taken Praxis I exam (Strategies for Praxis I preparation) complete the Student Teaching application
If a student has an existing degree and wants to apply for teacher licensure through another educational agency (e.g., Fairfax County Public Schools), he/she is welcome to register for needed coursework in the B.S.Ed Health and Physical Education degree program.

Student teaching applications are available online or can be obtained from the Department of Health, Fitness, and Recreation Resources (at PE 205, Fairfax campus) and the Office of Teacher Education (Graduate School of Education, Robinson Hall).
