At present, the Library is housed on the 6th floor of ICAR’s new premises in the Truland Building [3330 N. Washington Blvd., Arlington, VA 22201]. Long term plans are that it will eventually be housed in the Institute’s Research, Retreat and Conference Center at “Point of View”, Mason Neck, where it will become a library of record for the field of Conflict Analysis and Resolution, and include a comprehensive archive of cases of “Track Two” interventions by practitioners.
The current collection includes books, journals and periodicals from the field, as well as video and audio tapes and ephemera from the field, including newsletters and memoranda from ICAR and other conflict related programs and organizations. Later, it is hoped to make documents and other primary source material on conflict resolution initiatives available for research.
1.
Video and audio tapes may be borrowed [via a booking out form] for a maximum of two weeks.
2.
Coursework related material may be temporarily removed from the Library for copying for individual, personal use. [Note; there is a Xerox machine close to the Library; leave your GMU ID with the librarian when copying Library material].
At present, the Library is operating on a very limited budget, although we are seeking financial support for its expansion. Hence, any gifts of conflict -relevant books, videos, and journals, or book tokens and journal subscriptions together with original case study material will be very gratefully received.
