Young Communicators Fellowships



Up to $5000 will be awarded by the Institute for Humane Studies to advanced students and recent graduates pursuing specified non-academic careers.

IHS Young Communicators Fellowships are awarded to appropriate candidates to help them take advantage of strategic short-term opportunities that can enhance their abilities and credentials to pursue careers that involve the communication of ideas. Each fellowship consists of a stipend of up to $2,500 for a 12-week period, and housing and travel assistance up to $2,500 if required. Young Communicators Fellowships cannot be awarded for tuition or living expenses associated with pursuing a degree.

To qualify for consideration, applicant must:

  1. Submit a proposal of 500-1,000 words explaining:
  2. Include a cover letter explaining applicant's interest in classical liberal principles and how that interest fits in with applicant's career plans.
  3. Submit a current resume' that includes: educational background, including major field and any academic honors received; current educational status; work experience, including summer positions and internships; and citations of any publications.
  4. Submit a writing sample or other sample of work appropriate to the intended career.
  5. Provide the name, address, and phone number of two academic and/or professional references.


APPLICATION DEADLINE: MARCH 15 FOR SUMMER POSITIONS.

AT LEAST TEN WEEKS IN ADVANCE FOR OTHER POSITIONS.
