| Faculty/Staff Office Decorating Competition for Homecoming Offices are encouraged to decorate their area using the homecoming theme, Mason Rocks! Offices will be judged on Monday, February 11 and winners will be notified on February 12, followed by a picture in the Mason Gazette. Use of theme, spirit, and creativity are the key criteria. Prizes for the office competition include a plaque and a catered continental breakfast for up to 20 employees. Spring Semester News From Dining Services Change is the only constant. Starting Tuesday, January 22, the Bistro will be close at 2:00 pm daily, while George's has extended its hours to 11:30 am to 7:30 pm, Monday through Thursday, and 11:30 am to 2:00 pm on Friday. Damon's is offering a Limited Time Offer starting Saturday, January 26: all-you-can-eat Ribs at $14.95 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, and all but two of the remaining Mason Patriot men's basketball games will be televised on big screens in Damon's. Also at Damon's, watch for Damon's Late Night: student-oriented programming on Saturday nights dinner. Watch for the Charleston Market in the Johnson Center Food Court to transition to Exhibition Cooking, serving cooked to order food that leans toward healthy. The One Stop Patriot Shop convenience store in Blue Ridge Hall in the new Chesapeake residence neighborhood is scheduled to open sometime the week of January 28. Outstanding Achievement Award Nomination Deadline and Ceremony Rescheduled. It's the gift of time. The Outstanding Achievement Award ceremony has been rescheduled from the original date of Friday, March 7 to the new date of Tuesday, May 6. The time and location remain unchanged -- 9:00 am to 10:00 am in the Johnson Center, Dewberry Hall. As a result of the date change, HR & Payroll has extended the nomination process. The old deadline for nominations was Monday, February 4. The new nomination deadline is tentatively Tuesday, April 1. But don't be fooled into thinking time doesn't matter. Parking Changes. With the start of a new semester remember that parking lot F has officially closed, and the start of a new parking garage and safety office is well under way. Parking is available at the Field House with a free shuttle running about every 10 minutes back to campus with a stop at the CUE bus stop. If you have any questions call Parking Services at 993-2710. | Traffic Alerts/Mason Basketball As with the beginning of every semester, anticipate heavier than normal traffic volumes approaching campus and on campus and give yourself plenty of extra time in transit. As a special alert, on Wednesday January 23 at 8:00 pm, there is a Mason men's basketball game vs. Old Dominion at the Patriot Center. As has been done several times in the past with basketball game traffic, Mason Police will be directing traffic where needed and staff will be directing traffic into certain lots and parking decks. If you are not coming to the basketball game on Wednesday, but are coming to or leaving campus between 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm it is advised that you use Roberts Road or University Drive to avoid the crunch of the basketball game traffic. | ||

The Mason to Metro Shuttle will have a revised schedule with departures on the hour and half hour instead of 15 and 45 minutes after the hour. Midday service has been added so that the shuttle will run continuously throughout the day. Check the shuttle website for the new Mason the Metro shuttle schedule. West Campus Shuttle. Effective Tuesday, January 22 there will be a new West Campus Shuttle schedule for Spring 2008 with no stop in Lot E. Departures from West Campus and Presidents Park will now be every twenty minutes instead of every thirty minutes. Check the shuttle website for the new West Campus Shuttle schedule beginning Tuesday, January 22. Field House Express Shuttle. The new Field House Express Shuttle service begins on Tuesday, January 22. For those parking at the Field House, this new shuttle route will run continuously from the Field House to the CUE Bus Stop and back from 10:00 am - 11:00 pm, Monday - Thursday. Note there is no Friday service; however, those parking at the Field House can still catch the West Campus Shuttle on its route back to East Campus. See shuttle website for schedule and more details.
