Associate Dean Anne
M. Richard has been directing the Admissions Office
since December 1997.
Immediately prior to joining the law school staff,
Dean Richard was a trial attorney in the U.S. Department
of Justice, Civil Division, Commercial Litigation
Branch, in Washington, D.C. Dean Richard also served
as an Assistant Counsel in the Office of Professional
Responsibility of the U.S. Department of Justice.
From 1984 until 1995, Dean Richard was an attorney
in the Virginia law firm of Hazel & Thomas, P.C.
(which firm subsequently merged with Reed Smith).
Both as an associate and as a partner at Hazel & Thomas,
Dean Richard specialized in commercial litigation,
including banking, employment and bankruptcy litigation.
While at Yale Law School, Dean Richard was a founding
editor of the Yale Journal on Regulation.
She was also a Director of the Barrister’s
Union and a Co-Director of the Federal Prison Project,
a clinical program through which Yale law students
undertake representation of prisoners at the Federal
Correctional Institution in Danbury, Connecticut.
Dean Richard earned her bachelor’s and master’s
degrees summa cum laude from Boston College,
and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
Dean Richard is a member of the Virginia, District
of Columbia and Florida Bars.
