COS Life Sciences
The Life Sciences is an umbrella unit in George Mason University's College of Sciences (COS) dedicated to fostering research and education in the biological and biochemical sciences. It is comprised of four research centers that work in conjunction with the Department of Molecular and Microbiology.

Academics
The Life Sciences academic programs are administered by the Department of Molecular and Microbiology (MMB). MMB offers undergraduate program in Biology and graduate programs in Biology, Biodefense and Biosciences.

Research
The Life Sciences research takes place in the chartered reserach centers: the Center for Applied Proteomics and Molecular Medicine (CAPMM), the National Center for Biodefense and Infectious Diseases (NCBDID), the Center for Biomedical Genomics (CBMG) and the Center for the Study of Genomics in Liver Disease (CSGLD). The research is supported by analytical instruments managed by the Shared Research Instrumentation Facility (SRIF).
