The George Mason University Center for the Study of Genomics in Liver Diseases uses the advances in microarray technology and the human genome map to determine the genomic basis of diseases of the liver. The Center's partnership with INOVA Health System's Center for Liver Disease--located in Fairfax Hospital--allows biomedical researchers to investigate the genomic differences between healthy and diseased liver cells.

Formed in August 2000, the Center for Liver Diseases' mission is to meet the complete spectrum of health care needs of patients with liver disease by providing state-of-the-art treatment options, delivered proficiently by professionals in a seamless and compassionate manner. The Center's research mission is to provide cutting-edge protocols involving translational research and novel treatments. The Center has been a leader in translational research projects involving genomics and proteomics of fatty liver, hepatitis C and obesity. The Center for the Study of Genomics in Liver Diseases was created at George Mason University in order to bring together teams of clinical investigators and basic scientists for excellence in research in this dynamic and fast-growing area.
