Can I enroll in a second graduate program before completing my M.S. degree?

Students enrolled in the M.S. program are expected to focus their academic efforts on the completion of their degree. According to GMU regulations, enrollment in a second graduate program causes automatic withdrawal from the original graduate program.  The only exception to this rule requires that the student obtain written approval for dual enrollment from the Directors of BOTH graduate programs BEFORE enrolling in the second program, AND the two programs be at different levels (Ph.D./M.S.), AND the two programs are both offered at George Mason University.  Experience has shown that it is difficult or impossible to graduate after breaking these rules.
