Master's of Science in Biology
Concentration in Microbiology and Infectious Diseases

Admissions requirements

A bachelor’s degree in biology or the equivalent with a GPA of 3.0 or better in biology courses is recommended. For applicants with a non-biology degree, some foundation coursework is necessary for successful admission (contact the graduate program office for details). Full admission is contingent on acceptance by a faculty research advisor.

Applicants must submit the following by the published deadline to be considered:

  1. Graduate Application Form (admissions.gmu.edu)
  2. Three (3) letters of recommendation
  3. Goals Statement
  4. GRE general and Biology or Biochemistry subject exam scores
  5. Official Transcripts from previous universities attended

Successful applicants usually have GRE general scores that total at least 1100 on the combined verbal and quantitative exams. GRE subject exam scores should be in the upper 50th percentile.
