Karen Clark Evans, Undergraduate and Graduate Academic Advising
Status: administrative staff
Karen Clark Evans, soprano, received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from the University of Toledo where she studied with Barbara Rondelli, and a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Akron, studying with Clifford Billions. She studied applied voice with Gary Kendall at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, and operatic coaching with Johan van der Merwe at the University of Michigan. She was the winner of the Hassensall Memorial award for voice, awarded a full graduate assistantship at the University of Akron, and was a 1st place winner in the NATS competition, Ohio. Karen has sung professionally with the Southwestern Opera Institute in Lafayette, LA, the Artpark Opera Company, Buffalo, NY, and the Center for the Arts at Sebago Lake, ME. She has performed recitals for the Ohio Arts Council, was a member of the cast of the National Public Radio broadcast premier of "The Duchess of Malfi", and has sung for numerous civic organizations. Her most exciting musical moments came while working under the batons of Robert Shaw, Semyon Bychkov, Christopher Keene, and Boris Goldovsky.
Karen joined the Music Department staff in 2006.
