Judith Lapple, Woodwind Area Coordinator & Flute
Status: full-time, PMI professor
Teaching Positions: Flutopia Flute Choir, Private Music Instruction in Flute
Judy Lapple has soloed extensively throughout the United States, performing for a number of U.S. presidents and ambassadors, and has held flute masterclasses at many universities, flute conventions and area high schools. She is also a clinician for the Gemeinhardt Company. Many of her students are principal chairs in high school and middle school bands, and numerous students have won prestigious awards, including the Hampton Flute Faire, Bands of America, National Wind Ensemble, Music Teachers National Association, and American Youth Philharmonic Orchestras. Her former students have been accepted to Duke University, Yale University, Harvard University, Princeton University, Eastman School of Music, Peabody Conservatory, Cincinnati Conservatory, Northwestern University, and University of Michigan. Ms. Lapple has appeared on the cover of Flute Talk magazine, has written numerous articles on performance anxiety, and was selected for Who's Who Among America's Teachers in 2000 and 2006. In December of 2003, Mrs. Lapple was honored "For untiring work in preparing the young musicians of America" by the American Youth Philharmonic Orchestras. She received her Bachelors of Music from the Eastman School of Music and her Masters of Music from Northeast Louisiana University. She is the former principal flutist of the U.S. Air Force Band.
