Matthew Neff, Trombone
Status: PMI professor
Teaching Positions: Private Music Instruction in Trombone

B.M., Pennsylvania State University; M.M., Catholic University of America. Studied with Mark Lusk, Matt Guilford. Soloist with and member of the United States Navy Band. Bass trombonist with Navy Band Brass Quintet. Bass Trombonist with the United States Navy Band in Washington, DC since 1992. He performs regularly at the US Capitol, the US Navy Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery and the White House. In addition to Mr. Neff’s engagements with the US Navy Concert Band, he is a member of the Navy Band Brass Quintet. He has also performed with the Annapolis, Arlington, and Fairfax Symphonies, as well as the Kennedy Center Ballet Orchestra. Other significant experiences include performances with several ‘off-broadway’ shows (Hershey Theatre, Hershey, PA), various big-bands (Woody Herman’s Thundering Herd, Bud Forrest’s String of Pearls Orchestra, and the New Columbia Swing Orchestra), and studio recording. Mr. Neff is active as an educator/clinician and serves as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Trombone at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA. Matt resides in Ashburn, VA with his wife, Tricia, and their four daughters.
