“Green” Web 2. 0 Intern Position - emPivot.com

emPivot (www.emPivot.com) is a video sharing website and aggregator of green-related media content for anyone and everyone to access on-line. Our diverse community of users (people, organizations, and companies) can upload video content, connect with each other to share media, and utilize our strong video search engine tailored to find the most relevant green-related video content from emPivot.com and the rest of the web. As a result, emPivot.com empowers the world to view green from every possible angle.

Based in Washington, D.C. our office is looking for a highly-motivated graduate or undergraduate intern interested in bringing their leadership skills, creativity, and analytical skills to our growing company. This position will work at all levels of the company to help
direct outreach and marketing strategy, focused on attracting the youth sector as well as initiating partnerships with national companies and organizations.

This is a non-paid internship for 15-20 hours per week starting in October through and ending in December 2007. The objective of the internship is to expose the intern to the growing "green" and "sustainability" sector while also giving the intern exposure to an on-line media startup related to the environment.

Duties and Tasks:

Research and Writing:
  • Research and analyze sustainable on-line business market trends focusing on youths ages 14 through 25 years of age
  • Assisting with the writing and editing of company blog
Communications and Press Relations:
  • Organize and maintain a resource binder of media materials
  • Maintain a list of media and communications contacts related to sustainability and the environment
  • Assist emPivot Principals and contractors on existing communications and press relation campaigns
Marketing and Promotion:
  • Increase site traffic: drive both new membership hits and return member hits
  • Creating and managing campus promotional campaigns
  • Evangelize website to key audiences within student body
  • Represent the company local events
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Additional office duties and participation in staff meetings
  • Attending special events related to the sustainability and green sector
  • Assist the emPivot Principals and consultants with day-to-day operations and tasks
The Ideal Candidate will have:
  • A degree or course of study and/or experience in any of the following: ecology or environmental science with marketing and public relations experience
  • Highly proficient with productivity and internet applications, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Student and/or organizational leadership a plus
