Postdoctoral Certificate Program

In Applied Research

(Non-credit Program)

Beginning in Spring 1998, George Mason University will offer a Postdoctoral Certificate Program in Applied Research at the College of Nursing and Health Science. The Postdoctoral Certificate Program provides an opportunity for preparation in advanced research methodology for individuals who have doctoral degrees.

Postdoctoral students will work with a doctorally prepared faculty mentor to create an individualized program of study. This program will be consistent with the student's area of interest and the expertise of faculty.

Objectives

Research... To further prepare nurse and health science researchers in a variety of research methods.

Experience... To provide experience in various ongoing research projects.

Statistics... To prepare researchers in advanced statistical analyses.

Concept Areas

The curriculum consists of two semesters and one summer session.

Research Experiences Available:

At present, the CORDA faculty is conducting several research projects on HIV/AIDS, health education in school systems, and vocational education for students.

Contract Tuition for Postdoctoral Certificate Program

Annual Contract Tution: $8000

Annual Room & Board: $10000

Total Annual Expenses: $18000

Office and computer facilities will be provided, as well as access to advanced telecommunication links to research databases. Access to the library at George Mason University, as well as the libraries of several other local universities , will be open to the student for research project.

The university has the most recent advances in computer technology and telecommunications. On-campus housing, food services, and public transportation make a car unnecessary to take advantage of all the area has to offer.
